Pharrell Goes "Out of His Mind"

Pharrell Williams has a problem. The front man of rock trio N*E*R*D and one half of mega multi-platinum production duo The Neptune's has a BIG problem. His first and only album didn't come out the way that it should of.

So he did something about it:
The album, which was titled "In My Mind" was universally seen by critics and fans alike as lyrically competent, yet musically lacking. But, Pharrell and some of his most talented friends (like ?uestLove of the legendary Roots) believed that his album had genius in it. "Mind" had the potential to be one of the great albums of the last few years. It just needed something...

So they made something happen, something incredible. They collectively birthed: "Out of My Mind." The album would act more as a companion album than a sequel or remix project. Most of the original album's lyrics and melodies would remain. But, they would be reworked by Pharrell and a supergroup of legendary Hip Hop, R&B, Jazz, Blues and Pop musicians known as: Pharrell and The Yessirs . ?uestLove's off the wall drums drive every track on the new album.

The Outcome:

Pure Genius. An album performed as Pharrell and The Yessirs that seamlessly blends Hip Hop, Jazz and Soul music.

The Problem:

Interscope has shelved the project indefinably. After so so sales of "In My Mind," marketability was being severely questioned.

"Out of My Mind" was completed months ago. But when will the album see the light of day? Maybe never. Interscope doesn't believe in the album, but we do. The live instrumentation is incredible, the arrangements are awe-inspiriting and P WIllie has never sounded better. If you were one of the select fans to hear the original synth-heavy version of "In Search Of..." before hearing the fleshed out album that eventually went platinum, then you use that as a reference to how much of an improvement this is.
