Darryl McDaniels, better known as DMC of the legendary RUN DMC is ready to crown a new king of Hip Hop (well, reality TV Hip Hop at least). The self styled "King of Rock" will be hosting and producing a new televised competition to find the next great Hip Hop talent.

The show will follow in the same vein as the uber-popular "America's Best Dance Crew" and "American Idol." The big twist for this program will be it's positive message. Contestants will not be allowed to drop "four letter word" bombs, glorify violence or disrespect women. This strict (by Hip Hop standards) format is designed to not only make the show more youth friendly and accessible, but also the challenge the aspiring emcees to be more creative lyrically.

In defense of the show's clean cut image, McDaniels responds:

“The spirit of Hip Hop was always about changing the world or yourself, not with a gun or with denigrating or offensive words, but by being effective with your mind. This is a time when everyone is talking about change and we as a country have the opportunity to make a difference. We can start by changing what we have to say to each other, and what we say to our kids through music.”

The show's title will be "The Kings of Rap." The official start date and network have not yet been confirmed as of this article.
