Tuesday's inauguration was embraced by the Hip Hop culture in a way that has never been seen in this country. The VIP crowd at Barrack Obama's January 20th inauguration featured not only political power players and Hollywood superstars, but also a surprising dose of Hip Hop royalty. Sean "Diddy" Combs, Jay-Z (with wife Beyonce' who performed for the President twice this week), Russell Simmons, Mary J Blige and 50 Cent were all in attendance.
Superstar (and surprising personal friend to our 44th President) Jay-Z held both an inauguration concert and an unofficial gala. While his label mate Kanye West performed in the presence of President Obama at the official Youth Ball which was broadcast live on MTV Networks.
Jay-Z, Nas and Young Jeezy have all released songs in support of President Barrack Obama who is an admitted Hip Hop fan. The Hip Hop community is waiting in the wings to see if he will stand up for their issues in the coming years. |
