What: Storytelling Workshop Series
Who: 
Classroom Teachers, Media Specialists, Paraprofessionals, Educational Support Staff (all grades welcome)
When: Saturdays 9:00am-Noon (October 17, November 7, November 14)
Where:  City Center area of Newport News, VA

 

October 17: Storytelling in the Classroom. Learn three effective instructional strategies that promote storytelling; hear storytelling from the presenter; participate in telling; walk away with activities you can use immediately

November 7: Tales from Africa. Listen to and learn about stories from three regions of Africa; receive story maps, bibliography and teaching tips for use

November 14: NonFiction Storytelling. Examine ways to use various nonfiction forms of story to boost student achievement across the content areas

 

Participants will receive certificates of attendance to use for recertification points as needed. All sessions will have coffee, juice and a light morning snack. Handouts will be provided at each session.

 

Each workshop has a fee of $30.00 and is limited to 14 people per session. (Fee reduced for registering with a friend – see registration form)
